First to third instars cream and orange-red, 4th–5th instars pale grey-green, blue-green or yellow-green, with or without black tergites. Eggs on the calyx, under floral bracts or at the base of developing fruit under the persistent calyx. Young larvae mainly on the lead buds and young leaves. Older larvae at the undersides of mature leaves.
