larvae in shallow pits at upperside or underside of the leaves; at the other side a low dimple. Larvae flat, almost circular, surrounded by a circle of radiating wax threads.

under a high population density, eggs and larvae were also found on Stellaria nemorum subsp. montana, growing in the immediate neighbourhood. However, the development on this plant was slower, and the mortality very high.
