Oviposition on the flower buds; larvae at the underside of the leaves. 5th instar larva bright orange, abdomen sometimes pale green, eyes carmin red, tip of antenna dark brown to black. Contrary to species living on leaves, like T. dispar, only very short wax threads are produced. Univoltine; hibernation in conifers.
