Unilocular, roundish, 2-3 cm large gall, somewhat spongy, covered by large broad spines that touch at their bases; a spring gall.

According to Shachar ao the species lives exclusively on Quercus infectoria; records from other oaks possibly refer to Andricus hartigi.
