The parthenogenetic generation forms 2-3 mm large bud galls on young shoots in August-September, that fall to the ground before winter. The galls, sometimes two together, are almost completely hidden by the bud scales. They are smooth, shining, obpyriform with a somewhat acute tip; just below the tip the colour of the wall often forms a light-coloured ring.
