Bud gall at the end of a branch, about 8 mm long. The gall is short and coarsely hairy and consists of two parts, one above the other. The lower section is globular and brownish purple in colour. The upper part is onion-shaped, yellowish brown, deeply furrowed lengthwise, and is often frayed at the tip. In the lower section an oval gall chamber, with one larva that pupates in the gall.
