Smooth, oval, 1 mm high bud scale, for 2/3 hidden by the bud scales, not deciduous; wasps emerging in summer (description based on Kieffer, 1901b). According to Houard the gall is green, thin-walled, and indeed deciduous.

Although the species is treated as a valid one by (PESI, 2018), the reason for existence seems questionable. Based on the gall Eady & Quinlan locate the species next to Andricus quercuscorticis.
