Ovoid, smooth, light brown, gall of 3-4 mm, largely hidden between the scales of a lateral or terminal bud. At the side eventually a large exit hole. Often several together.

Only the sexual generation is known. The gall cannot be distinguished without breeding from that of the sexual generation of Neuroterus anthracinus.
