bud gall. 2(4) cm large, globular gall, its surface with an irregular network of low ridges. The gall tissue is brown and spongy, enclosing a large gall chamber that houses a small, thin-walled inner gall, attached at one point. Mainly originating from lateral buds of two years old shoots.
