Groups of ± 6 mm large, more or less conical, green to brown galls, embedded in the bark of mature trees. Galls are mature in May; they lack the radiating striation that occurs in A. rhyzomae and sieboldi (Melika 206a:464).

Bud gall. Egg-shaped, thin-walled, smooth, gall in a leaf axil, with a narrowed base attached to the scars of fallen bud scales, up to 2.5 mm large, (almost) completely hidden by the remaining bud scales. Galls in May-June, green at first, later brown.
