Quercus lusitanica, gal (uit Houard,1908a)
galling of a twig (from Houard, 1908a)
gall
Often only weak, not hairy swelling in the petiole or midrib, with a single gall chamber (seemingly more when several galls coalesce); this type of gall cannot be separated from the one by A. testaceipes unless by breeding. Galls can also consist of more or less marked swellings of a twig; when the bark is removed, 1 mm large gall chambers become apparent, surrounded by a conspicuous light coloured ring. Galls from June till August, mature in July.
