Globular unilocular gall on the buds or the underside of a leaf, initially juicy and green, brown and hard when mature; the wall bears many slender, unbranched spines of some 3 mm length. Usually a number of galls together, coalescing into an irregular mass of up to 5 cm. Pupation within the gall.
