Like in more sawflies the eggs are deposited one by one in the very leaf margin. The tiny swelling that results makes one think of a small gall.

East Asian species, recorded in Europe for the first time in 2003. Since then the species has expanded its range to a large part of the continent, assisted by the relatively large number of annual generations and by the fact that the species reproduces parthenogenetically. The damage to the host plants can be considerable.
