Oviposition in the stem of dying or dead trees, especially where the bark already has statrted to split. Simultaneously with the eggs the female deposits spores of a fungus, Cerena unicolor (Bulliard) Murrill, 1903, the mossy maze polypore (Polyporales). The larva bores in the wood, after initially having feed exclusively on fungal tissue that has developed in the mean time.
