sausage or caterpillar shaped gall, consisting of a number (sometimes just two) compartments. The gall is most prominent at the upperside. Usually two galls at either side of the midrib.

Third abdominal segment with 4 dorsal annulets. Suranal plate with widely separated pseudocerci.

synonym

Pontania virilis; Euura dolichura auct. nec (Thomson, 1871). The real dolichura is a northern European species that occurs on Salix lapponum.
