Very transparent full depth botch with a yellow white larva. The mine can finally occupy a sizable part of the leaf. The mine usually starts at the leaf margin (Liston, 1994a). Frass in black, loose grains.

On Ulmus glabra lives the related Fenusa ulmi.

The specimen illustrated below, based on the host plant can only be identified as F. altenhoferi. Yet, the elaborate pigmentation of the larva is difficult to reconcile with that identification.
