gall

weak swelling of a young shoot, up to 1.5 cm long, with smooth bark. The gall is unilocular, larva solitary. Univoltine; pupation in the gall.

Salix alba, x fragilis, purpurea.

Rarely S. viminalis. References to Populus are incorrect.

larva

Third abdominal segment with 3 dorsal annulets. Suranal plate without pseudocerci.
