A number of oval eggs in inserted as a string just below the epidermis of the underside of the midrib. The larvae live free on the leaves; at first they make small holes in the lamina, later the feed communally at the leaf margins, in the end only leaving the major veins.

phenology
Several generations per year; hibernation as a prepupa in the soil.
