Oviposition in the petiole or midrib. Larvae sluggish, free at the undersides of the leaves.

host plants

Betulaceae, ? monophagous

Alnus glutinosa, incana, viridis.

References to Betula pendula; Corylus avellana are probably incorrect (Prous ao).

phenology

Univoltine. Larvae from late June until September or mid October. Hibernation as cocooned prepupa in the soil; pupation in April.
