Geometridae

Geometridae

This is one of the most species-rich family of the Lepidoptera, but only a tiny minority lives as a miner. The larvae of this family are the well-known geometer moths, and perhaps the characteristic mode of of movement is the very reason of the low number of miners. See Stehr (1987a,b) for a discussion of the larvae.
