The larva mines a number of leaves from their base upwards. The larva hibernates in a hibernaculum in the heart of the plant; pupation outside the mine.

Saxifraga fragosoi, granulata, hypnoides.

Does also occur on gardens in Britain, on cultivars of S. hypnoides (UKmoths.org.uk, 2009).

phenology

Larva from July till May Hering (1957a), but they mine only prior to the hibernation (Hart, 2011a).

BENELUX

Not known from the Benelux countries (Fauna Europaea, 2009).

British Isles, France, Iberian Peninsula, and Italy (Fauna Europaea, 2009).

Head and prothoracic shield shining dark brown; yellowish white with broad irregular light brown length lines (UKmoths.org.uk, 2009).
