Coleophora albicostella (Duponchel, 1843)

from Toll (1962a)
case
Yellowish white spatulate leaf case; laterally strongly compressed, bivalved.
hostplants
Rosaceae, oligophagous
Comarum palustre; ? Fragaria vesca; Potentilla incana, tabaernaemontani.
According to (Hering, 1957a) also Rubus and Sanguisorba. A reference to Cytisus ciliatus by Maček (1999a) does not seem very plausible.
Cases on Potentilla fruticosa (but possibly also other species of this genus) probably belong to C. peri, with which albicostella until the seventies was confused.
A study by van Roosmalen & Doorenbos of the Dutch material of this species that was reared from Fragaria showed that all was misidentified. They doubt if strawberry is a host plant of albicostella at all.
