The larva mines leaf from silken tubes at the leaf underside. Pupation within the mine.

Helichrysum arenarium; Pilosella officinarum.

Reference to Salvia are the result of misidentification. The mine on S. officinalis that is illustrated by Klimesch (1942a) probably belongs to Vulcaniella cognatella (Koster & Sinev, 2003a).


Larvae from autumn till May (Hering, 1957a).


Not known from the Benelux countries (Fauna Europaea, 2009).
