According to not quite clear indications the youg larvae would mine in the spongy tissue of the leaf sheaths; perhaps this happens only facultatively. Later they live in the ripening seedheads.

Head, prothoracic and anal plates brown, darkbrown marked; whitish with five brown length lines, the dorsal one darkest and most sharply delineated.
