Depressaria ultimella Stainton, 1849
The larva bores in the stem, initially in the inflorescence, but gradually descending into older and thicker stems. Infected plants recognisable by withering stems. Pupation in the lower part of the stem, not infrequently below the water table.
Larvae in June-August.

Head light brown; prothoracic plate yellowish; body, thoracic feet and anal plate greenish, no length lines; pinacula black with grey setae. See also Fetz.
