Mine a descending and widening corridor, in the end an elongate blotch that may occupy the entire width of the leaf. The mine contracts somewhat, narrowing the leaf. Frass in some elongate lumps in the centre of the mine.

Zoerner (1970a) adds: Calamagrostis canescens; Ammocalamagrostis baltica and Elymus repens. These plants are not mentioned by later authors, being either overlooked or not accepted.

Larvae from autumn till June; they hibernate in the mine (Bland, 1996a; Buszko, 1990a; Traugott-Olsen & Nielsen, 1977a).

Body dull grey green with a narrow dorsal line; head pale brown with darker marking; prothoracic plate dark brown, irregularly divided.
