The mine starts at an oval egg shell, that has several strong longitudinal ridges, at the upperside of the leaf near the base of the lamina. From here ascends a gradually widening, slightly inflated gallery. Pupation external.

The mature larva is 5-6 mm long and uniformly bone-coloured. The characteristic sclerites of pronotum, prosternum and anal plate are depicted by Parenti & Varalda (1991a).
