Fully fed larvae are found in May and June; hibernation probably as larva.
Not known from the Benelux countries (Fauna Europaea, 2010).

From Sweden to the Iberian Peninsula, Sardinia, Italy, and Greece, and from Britain to Hungary (Fauna Europaea, 2010).
Body reddish purple, marbled with grey; pinacula minute, black, ringed grey. Head honey-coloured, with posterolateral black markings. Prothoracic plate, anal plate, and thoracic legs black.
