Stathmopoda pedella (Linnaeus, 1761)
Haarlemmermeer, 4.vii.2020 © Laurens van der Linde
In August-September the larvae live as borers in the still green female catkins, feeding on te seeds. Infected catkins sometimes have a weak discolouration, but otherwise only a little entrance hole and a bit of extruded frass betray their presence. Full grown larvae drop to the ground for pupation.
Alnus glutinosa, incana.
