Gallery, forming a dense spiral; only towards the end the gallery comes loose and continues free for a short distance. Much blackish frass. The older larvae live free and cause upper-surface window feeding.
Larvae in July (Hering, 1957a).
Not known from the Benelux countries (Fauna Europaea, 2012).
