Populus x canescens, Nieuwendam: larva, dorsal
head and pronotum, sternum
head, dorsal; thoracic foot p2
Thee larva has normal setae but at strong magnifications one sees a sense cover of setulae. The position of the rudimentary prolegs is recognisable in the arrangement of these setulae.
Towards the end of the abdomen the setulae change into fine spinules.
See Briolini (1965a) for a detailed description of the larva.
