slight rotund to fusiform swelling of a young, but no longer green shoot, often just below a side branch; inside a yellow caterpillar; pupation external. Attacked shoots often are conspicuous because they droop.

Crataegus; Prunus padus, spinosa; Sorbus aucuparia.

Strong preference for Prunus padus.
