Ectoedemia phaeolepis van Nieukerken, A & Z Laštuvka, 2010
Lepidoptera, Nepticulidae
mine
The mine is a short, tortuous gallery, that abruptly widens into a large blotch. The corridor is almost completely filled with frass; in the blotch the frass is concentrated in the oldest part, mainly along the sides. Pupation external.
hostplants
Fagaceae, narrowly monophagous
Quercus ilex, rotundifolia.
phenology
Adults were collected between late May and early August.
distribution within Europe
Spain, Portugal.
notes
Only adults are known of this species; they were always caught in close association with the plant species mentioned above, and often in association with the mines described here. It therefore is very probable that the moths, mines and hostplants belong together.
