Oviposition at the leaf underside, close to a major vein. First part of the mine a strongly contorted gallery with a narrow line of brown frass. Then the mine widens into an elongate, irregular blotch where the brown frass lies dispersed.

Larvae in May-June, again in September.

Yellowish to white with brown head; first four ganglia distinct; 12 ventral plates.
