Egg usually near the midrib. Here begins a narrow gallery completely filled with frass, that widens into a full depth blotch. In dwarf willows with very small leaves the entire leaf can be mined out. The area around the mine often turns dark red. Exit slit in upper surface.

Not known from the Benelux countries (Fauna Europaea, 2012).
