mine

Whitish, upper-surface blotch, often occupying an entire leaflet. Fully developed mines strongly contract, and the leaflet doubles along the midrib. Almost all frass is ejected through a hole in the epidermis. Often several mines in a (composite) leaf. Pupation internal; the pupa is half shifted outside.

host plants

Rosaceae, monophagous

Rosa “x barboniana”, canina, centifolia, x damascena, gallica, pendulina, rubiginosa, sempervirens, tomentosa, virginiana.

phenology

Bivoltine. Larvae in June – July and again in late August – September (van Frankenhuyzen & Freriks, 1957a).

Hering (1957a) writes that the larva hibernates in the mine, and pupates only in spring.

BENELUX

BE recorded (Phegea, 2009).

NE recorded (Kuchlein & de Vos, 1999a; Microlepidoptera.nl, 2009).
