Whitish, upper-surface blotch, often occupying an entire leaflet. Fully developed mines strongly contract, and the leaflet doubles along the midrib. Almost all frass is ejected through a hole in the epidermis. Often several mines in a (composite) leaf. Pupation internal; the pupa is half shifted outside.

Rosa “x barboniana”, canina, centifolia, x damascena, gallica, pendulina, rubiginosa, sempervirens, tomentosa, virginiana.
phenology
Bivoltine. Larvae in June – July and again in late August – September (van Frankenhuyzen & Freriks, 1957a).
Hering (1957a) writes that the larva hibernates in the mine, and pupates only in spring.
