tips of the shoots unhealthy, with shortened internodes. Underside of the leaves with a greyish white to purplish-brown fungal cover of 0.7 mm high erect conidiophores that apically several times are branching, each branch ending upon a conidium.

Peronospora trifolii-minoris Gäumann, 1923 (synonymy according to Klenke & Scholler).

Contrariwise, according to García-Blázquez ao trifolii-minoris in fact is a valid species, that parasitises all species listed above except T., arvense.

the Index Fungorum (2016) considers P. trifolii-arvensis a mere junior synonym of P. trifoliorum.
