mycelium conspicuous, white to brown, amphigenous, generally persistent, often in circular patches. Appressoria nipple-shaped, rarely lobate. Conidia in chains, elliptic, without fibrosin bodies. Cleistothecia with 8-20 asci that contain 2 (rarely 3) spores. Appendages numerous, attached on and below the equator, 0.5-1.5 the diameter; they are mycelioid, brown, septate, generally unbranched.
