cleistothecia and asci
mycelium amphigenous, forming persistent greyish white spots. Appressoria rather indistinct. Conidia formed in chains, with fibrosin bodies. Cleistothecia with a single ascus, containing (6-) 8 spores. Appendages in variable number, mostly sub-equatorial, 0.3 – 3 x the diameter; they are myceloid, mostly unbranched, generally entirely brown.
North American species, in Europe only on garden ornamentals.
part of the mycelium had a greyish brown colour, because it was parasitised by Ampelomyces quisqualis.
