up to 4 cm large yellowish brown to orange brown, slightly thickened leaf spots; sunken in the tissue are many inconspicuous pycnidia. The leaves are somewhat crinkled; they drop prematurely. On the fallen leaves develop in the winter a dark red stromata, in which perithecia are formed.
