Infected parts of the leaf venation are galled, swollen, and deep red in colour; adjacent zone of the leaf disk has turned yellow. In the veins, around the vascular bundles, fungal spores are formed.

synonyms

Brandenburger considers several Protomyces species, kriegerianus included, synonyms of P. pachydermus. The Index Fungorum (2014) doesn’t follow him herein.
