Caryophyllaceae, monophagous

Silene alba, baccifera, latifolia, marizii, noctiflora, viscosa, zawadzkii.

synonyms

Ustilago violacea auctorum; U. lychnidis-dioicae (de Candolle) Liro, 1924.

notes

In the renewed and narrowed concept of this species of Denchev, Giraud & Hood (2009a), only Silene latifola is cited as a host plant. Now that the genus Microbotryum is being split up so strongly, probably the other Silene’s mentioned above will turn out as host of as yet undescribed species.
