no host alternation, only hypophyllous uredinia, up to 0.5 mm, often on discoloured leaf spots. In early summer they are light brown; but in autumn times dark brown uredinia appear (with a strong resemblance o telia). The spores have (2)3(4) more or less equatorial pores. The spring spores measure 5-19 x 17-27 µm, the autumn ones 14-23 x 23-45; the latter also have a thickened wall, apically up to 6 µm. In autumn a small number of teliospores is formed in the uredinia; they are two-celled, elliptic, measure ± 16 x 38 µm; the hyaline pedicel is about as long as the spore.
