No host plant alternation. Spermogonia hypophyllous, yellowish, on pale spots. No aecia. Uredinia amphigenous, reddish brown; spores one-celled, spinulose. with 3 germination pores, each one capped by a conspicuous, hyaline, smooth papilla. Telia amphigenous, blackish brown, pulverulent; spores two-celled, broad-oval, 21-33 x 38-54 µm, densely verrucose, on a short, flaccid deciduous pedicel.
