Spermogonia and aecia missing. Uredinia amphigenous, dark brown to black; spores with (2)3(4) germination pores. Teliospores are formed within the uredinia; part of them are one-celled, light brown and resemble urediniospores. Most are two-celled, dark brown, covered with small warts, often in rows, apically with a hyaline, 5-8 µm high hyaline papilla; pedicel fragile.
