No host plant alternation; only uredinia and telia. Uredinia with the colouror red lead, mainly hypophyllous, also on petioles and stems; spores finely spinulose, with 2-3, mostly equatorial pores. Telia like the uredinia, but blackish brown.Teliospores brown, two-celled, weakly constricted, finely verrucose; pedicel deciduous; pore of the lower cell near the attachement of the pedicel.
Originally a species from Afghanistan and Iran, but since 2000 on various places in Central Europe.
