No host plant alternation; spermogonia, uredinia and telia. Spermogonia rarely formed. Uredinia light to rust brown, generally hypophyllous, occasionally also on petioles and stem; spores 19-24 x 20-26 µm with 2-3 ± equatorial germination pores. Older uredinia are darker, and then also contain partly teliospores. Teliospores 2-celled, 20-27 x 32-46 µm, wall of uniform thickness, pedicel often longer than the spore, generally persistent.
