No hostplant alternation; only uredinia and telia. Uredinia rust-coloured, mostly hypophyllous on brown leaf spots, soon naked, pulverulent. Urediniospores globular, verruculose, with 3 equatorial pores, capped by a papilla that strongly swells up in water. Telia rarely formed, dark brown, hypophyllous, naked. Teliospores mostly 2-celled; wall brown, spinulose, apically somewhat thickened; pedicel persistent, hyaline, 1-2 x the length of the spore.
