uredinia mainly epiphyllous, on pale spots; urediniospores spinulose, 18-22 x 18-28 µm, with 2 pores above the equator, surrounded by a smooth zone. Telia black, long covered by the epidermis. Teliospores two-celled, slender, with a smooth wall, that apically is strongly thickened. Pedicel short, hyaline.

synonyms

many authors, including Termorshuizen & Swertz, and also the Index Fungorum (2016) consider this species conspecific with Puccinia dioicae, or a variety of it.
