no host alternation, only uredinia and telia. Uredinia hypophyllous, also on the stem, up to 0.7 mm, reddish brown. Urediniospores 22-24 x 24-28 µm, spinulose, with 2-3(4) mostly equatorial pores.Telia like the uredinia but black. Teliospores two-celled, broad-elliptic, 16-21 x 38-53 µm. The top cell has a double-layered wall: outer layer hyaline, inner one brown. Pedicel persistent, yellowish, mostly shorter than the spore.
